Manu Bhaker, Saurabh Chaudhary breaks world record at Asian Airgun Championship


Indian shooting players Manu Bhaker and Saurabh Chaudhary smashed the qualification world record at 12th Asian Airgun Championship . They clinched the 10m air pistol mixed team gold at Asian Airgun Championship in Taoyuan, Taipei.

Manu Bhaker (17 years) and Saurabh Chaudhary (16 Years) shot a combined score of 784 in the qualification round, breaking the record set by Russians Vitalina Batsarashkina and Artem Chernousov at the European Championships five days ago.

Before this feat, they won the International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) World Cup stage gold in the same event in Delhi in February 2019.

  • Hwang Seongeun and Kim Mose of Korea won the silver with a score of 481.1.
  • Wu Chia Ying and Kou Kuan-Ting claimed the bronze for the host country with a score of 413.3.
  • Second Indian team comprising of Anuradha and Abhishek Verma also reached the finals and finished fourth with a score of 372.1.

Asian Shooting Confederation organises Asian Airgun Championship. The formation of the Asian Shooting Confederation was fully supported in principle by Members of the Asian countries present at the 18th Olympic Games held in Tokyo in 1964. It was finalized at the 5th Asian Games held in Bangkok in December, 1966. The first General Assembly meeting was held on July 20, 1967, at the Tokorazawa Ranges near Tokyo, Japan.
