Indian cyclists won gold at World Junior Track Cycling Championships

Indian cyclists team have won the gold medal in the Team Sprint event at World Junior Track Cycling Championships held in Frankfurt, Germany. Indian team comprised of Esow Alben, Ronaldo Singh and Rojit Singh.

  • This is India’s first ever gold medal in a global cycling competition. The Indian team defeated Australian team in the finals to won the gold medal.
  • The Indian team defeated Australia in the final, clocking 44.681 seconds to claim the top honours. Great Britain took home the bronze. 
  • At present, Esow Alben, the cycling star from Andaman and Nicobar Islands is top-ranked junior cyclist in world in sprint and keirin events. In 2018, he had become 1st Indian to win a medal at the Junior Track Cycling World Championships when he won silver in men’s Keirin event.
