Air India Chairperson Pradeep Singh Kharola Appointed Civil Aviation Secretary :

The government appointed Air India chief managing director and Chairperson Pradeep Singh Kharola the secretary of the Ministry of Civil Aviation. Kharola will take over from Rajiv Nayan Choubey. Kharola, an Indian Administrative Services officer of Karnataka cadre from the 1985 batch, was named chairperson of Air India in November 2017. He presided over a turbulent period for the national carrier, which is not doing well financially.

P.S.Krishnan is to receive K.Veeramani Award :

K.Veeramani Award for Social Justice 2018 will be conferred on P.S. Krishnan, former Secretary, Government of India. Dravidar Kazhagam leader Veeramani will felicitate the awardee at a function in New Delhi. About the award: Periyar International Inc., (USA) gives an annual award for outstanding contributions to Social Justice, which is named his honor.

Kerala became 1st State to Set Up Price Monitoring And Research Unit :

Kerala has become the first State to set up a Price Monitoring and Research Unit (PMRU) to track violation of prices of essential drugs and medical devices under the Drugs Price Control Order (DPCO).

‘Darwaza Band – Part 2’ campaign was launched by Swatch Bharat Mission Grameen :

The “Darwaza Band- Part 2” campaign was launched by Swachh Bharat Mission Grameen focuses on sustaining the open defecation free status of villages across the country. The campaign launched by the Ministry of Drinking Water and Sanitation in Mumbai in the presence of actor Amitabh Bachchan.

IBA issued advisory to waive off various charges for Kisan Credit Card :

Indian Banking Association (IBA) has recommended banks to exempt farmers from processing, documentation, inspection, ledger folio charge and various service charges for Kisan Credit Card loans upto Rs. 3 Lakhs. These guidelines came to highlight as nominal amount of charges were collected by some schedule commercial banks for agriculture loans.

Smriti mandhana scored India’s fastest-ever T20I fifty :

Indian opener Smriti Mandhana hammered the fastest fifty for India in Women’s T20Is. The left-handed batswoman struck a half-century in just 24 balls in the 1st T20I against New Zealand at Westpac Stadium in Wellington. In doing so, the 22-year-old bettered her own record of a fifty in 25 balls, which she created in 2018 against England.

2019 Asia LPG Summit organized by World LPG Association :

Shri Dharmendra Pradhan, Union Minister for petroleum and natural gas, inaugurated the 2019 Asia LPG summit in New Delhi. This two-day event will focus on ‘LPG – Energy for Life.’  India is the second largest consumer of liquified natural gas (LPG) in the world under the flagship ‘Ujjwala’ scheme, and in take of  LPG in households is  providing access to cleaner cooking fuel .
