Kerala became the first State  set up a price monitoring and research unit (PMRU) :

Kerala became the first state to set up price monitoring and research unit (PMRU) to track violation of prices of essential drugs and medical devices. The new watchdog will offer technical help to the State Drug Controllers  to monitor notified prices of medicines, detect violation of the provisions of the Drugs Price Control Order (DPCO).

P V Bharathi assumed charge as CEO of Corporation Bank :

Former executive director of Canara Bank ,P V Bharathi assumed charge as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the city-based Corporation Bank. P V Bharati surpassed Jai Kumar Garg, and became the first woman CEO of the bank.  Despite the post of executive director of Canara Bank ,she also holded the post of non-executive director of Can Fin Homes Limited and   also director board member of Canbank Venture Capital Limited. 

PM Modi Inaugurated 106th Indian Science Congress at Jalandhar :

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has inaugurated the 106th Indian Science Congress (ISC-2019) at Jalandhar, Punjab. The ISC is an annual congregation that witnesses deliberations by top scientific minds of the country. The theme for which is ‘Future: India-Science and Technology’. This will be his 5th address to Indian Science Congress after assuming office as Prime Minister.

Shehri samridhi utsav launched across the country :

Shehri Samridhi Utsav, an initiative of Ministry of Housing & Urban Affairs (MoHUA), aims to extend the outreach of Deendayal Antyodaya Mission – National Urban Livelihoods Mission (DAY-NULM), to the most vulnerable, showcase its initiatives and facilitate access of Self-Help Group (SHG) members to the other government schemes.

Arunima Sinha became world’s first woman amputee to scale Mount Vinson :

Arunima Sinha, the Indian mountaineer who became the world’s first woman amputee to climb Mount Everest in 2013, has now become the first woman amputee to climb Mount Vinson (highest peak of Antarctica). Sinha is a national level volleyball player who had one of her legs amputated in 2011 after she was pushed from a running train by dacoits she had resisted.

Indian squash player Ramit Tandon win Seattle Open title :

Indian squash player Ramit Tandon win the fourth title of Seattle open title by defeating Mohamed El Sherbini of Egypt. Seattle Open is a PSA challenger squash Tour held in USA . Ramit Tandon who belongs to Kolkata won by 11-4, 11-7, 2-11, 11-2 for his first PSA title. Jacques Fountaine is president of World squash federation which is headquartered at East Sussex, England.

Jayanta Kumar Ghosh awarded with the National Geospatial Award for Excellence :

Jayanta Kumar Ghosh, a professor at the civil engineering department of the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) in Roorkee, was conferred the National Geospatial Award for Excellence-2017 (Lifetime Achievement Award) at the Space Application Centre in Ahmedabad. The Indian Society for Remote Sensing is an organisation known in the area of space science, remote sensing and geo-spatial technology.
