East Coast Railway released a notifications for the recruitment of Jr. Clerk-Cum-Typist, Technician-III, Commercial Cum Ticket Clerk, Goods Guard, Junior Engineer (Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Signal & Telecom) against General Departmental Competitive Examination (GDCE). The detailed eligibility and application process are given below.

Detailed Eligibility:

Jr. Clerk-Cum-Typist:

  • 12th (+2 Stage) or its equivalent with not less than 50% marks in the aggregate.
  • Typing proficient in English/Hindi on Computer is essential.

Technician-III:

  • Matriculation with either National Trade Certificate (NTC) or National Apprenticeship Certificate (NAC) issued by National Council of Vocational Training (NCVT) in the relevant trades
  • The relevant trades are Carpenter/Furniture and Cabinet Maker OR Welder/Gas Cutter/ Structural Welder OR Fitter OR Electrician/Wireman/ Mechanical /Electronics Mechanic OR Wireman/Electronics Mechanic/Mechanic Power Electronics/Mechanic /Painter General/ Machinist/Carpenter OR Instrument Mechanic/ Mechanic Mechatronics/ Mechanic Diesel/Mechanic Motor Vehicle/Machinist OR Refrigeration and Air Conditioning OR Forger and Heat Treater OR Mason (Building Constructor) & Others.

Commercial Cum Ticket Clerk:

  • 12th (+2 Stage) or its equivalent with not less than 50% marks in the aggregate.

Goods Guard: Degree from recognized University and its equivalent.

Junior Engineer (Civil):

  • Three years Diploma in Civil Engineering or B.Sc. in Civil Engineering of three years duration or
  • A combination of any sub stream of basic streams of Civil Engineering from a recognized University/ Institute.

Junior Engineer (Mechanical):

  • Three years Diploma in Mechanical/ Production/Automobile/Electrical/ Electronics/ Instrumentation and Control Engineering OR
  • A combination of any sub stream of basic streams of Mechanical/ Production/ Automobile/Electrical/ Electronics/ Instrumentation and Control Engineering from a recognized University/ Institute.
  • Three years Diploma in Mechanical/ Electrical/ Electronics/ Manufacturing/ Mechatronics/ Industrial/ Machining/ Instrumentation and Control/ Tools and Machining/ Tools and Die Making/ Automobile/ Production Engineering.

Junior Engineer (Electrical):

  • Three years Diploma in Mechanical/ Electrical/ Electronics Engineering OR
  • A combination of any sub stream of basic streams of Mechanical/ Electrical/ Electronics Engineering from a recognized University/ Institute.

Junior Engineer (Signal & Telecom):

  • Three years Diploma in Electrical/ Electronics/ Information Technology/ Communication Engineering/ Computer Science and Engineering/ Computer Science/ Computer Engineering OR
  • Acombination of any sub stream of basic streams of Electrical/ Electronics/ Information Technology/Communication Engineering/ Computer Science and Engineering/ Computer Science/ Computer Engineering from a recognized University/Institute.

Age limit (As on 15.04.2019): Below 42 years

Relaxation in Upper Age Limit:

  • 5 years for SC/ST candidates
  • 3 years for OBC candidates
  • Other as per government policy

Selection Process :

The selection process will be based on the Computer Based Test (CBT), Typing Skill Test followed by Document Verification and Medical Examination.

Scheme of Examination:

  • The questions set in the Computer Based Test (CBT) will be of Multiple Choice Objective Type. The question paper will be set in English & Hindi.
  • The standard of the questions for the Computer Based Test (CBT) will generally be in conformity with the educational standards prescribed for the post.
  • The questions are likely to include subjects pertaining to General awareness, Arithmetic, General Intelligence, Reasoning and Technical questions, wherever applicable.
  • There will be negative marking in CBT examination and marks will be deducted for each wrong answer @ 1/3 of the marks allotted for each question.

Typing Skill Test :

  • For the posts Junior Clerk cum Typist, Typing Skill Test (TST) of qualifying nature (marks obtained in typing skill test shall not be added for making merit).
  • The candidates should be able to type 30 words per minute (WPM) in English or 25 WPM in Hindi on Personal Computer only without editing tools and spell check facility.
