Kamaljit Bawa 1st Indian to receive Linnean Medal :

Indian botanist Kamaljit Bawa received the Linnean Medal in Botany from Linnean Society of London. Bawa is the 1st Indian to win the award ever since it was constituted in 1888. He was recognised for his pioneering research on evolution of tropical plants, tropical deforestation & non-timber forest products. Linnean Medal is awarded to a biologist every year by the Linnean Society of London.

‘Reuse of Treated Waste Water’ Policy Launched in Gujarat :

With an objective to reuse 70% of the treater waster water, the government of Gujarat has approved the “Reuse of Treated Water Policy”. The policy is expected to treat 100% of the treated wastewater by 2030. It was launched by Chief Minister of Gujarat Vijay Rupani and Deputy Chief Minister Nitin Patel, the action plan will reduce state’s dependence on freshwater sources like the Narmada river.

Indian Oil Most Profitable PSU For 2nd Straight Year :

Indian Oil Corporation has emerged as India’s most profitable state-owned company for the second consecutive year. Indian Oil posted a record profit of Rs21,346 crore in 2017-18, followed by ONGC, whose profit stood at Rs19,945 crore. Mukesh Ambani-led Reliance Industries is the most profitable company for the third straight year, posting highest ever profit of Rs36,075 crore.

International Conference on the TRIPS CBD Linkage to be held on 7-8 June in Geneva :

The International Conference on TRIPS- CBD Linkage will be held in Geneva on June 7-8, 2018 to revive WTO discussions on issues related to theft of traditional knowledge. The conference will be organised jointly by Indian Government, Centre for WTO Studies, Indian Institute of Foreign Trade and the South Centre, an inter-governmental organisation based in Geneva. 

Yuvraj Singh Awarded ‘Most Inspiring Icon Of The Year For Social Welfare’ :

Indian star cricketer Yuvraj Singh has been awarded the ‘most inspiring icon of the year for Social Welfare’ award by the Dadasaheb Phalke International Film Festival (DPIFF) for his exemplary contribution in the field of social welfare.
