3 day National Conference Vice Chancellors & Directors held in New Delhi :

On the auspicious occasion of Guru Purnima, the Ministry of Human Resource Development organized a National Conference of Vice Chancellors & Directors of Higher Education Institutions of India in New Delhi.

High-Level Empowered Committee Formed To Address Issues of Stressed Thermal Power Projects :

With a view to resolve the stress and revive such assets, the Government has decided to set up a High-Level Empowered Committee headed by Cabinet Secretary, Pradeep Kumar Sinha with representatives from the Ministry of Railways, Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Power, Ministry of Coal and the lenders having major exposure to the power sector.The Committee would look into the various issues with a view to resolve them and maximise the efficiency of investment including changes required to be made in changes required in the provisioning norms/Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code (IBC), Asset Restructuring Company (ARC) Regulations and any other measures proposed for revival of stressed assets so as to avoid such investments becoming NPA. 

PRANAM Act : India’s first of a kind act launched by Assam Government :

Assam Finance Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced a first-of-its-kind legislation- the Assam Employees PRANAM Act would be implemented in the state from October 02, the day of Gandhi Jayanti celebration in 2018. The Act will deduct 10% of an employee’s pay and transfer it to the account of the relatives concerned. Another 5% would be deductible if the employee has a differently abled sibling.

International conference on India-Vietnam economic ties :

Vietnam is one of the fastest growing economies among the ASEAN countries said Union Minister of Commerce & Industry and Civil Aviation in New Delhi. He was speaking at an international conference on India-Vietnam economic ties.

World Day against Trafficking in Persons :

World Day against Trafficking in Persons is organized across the world by the United Nations on 30 July to Combat Trafficking in Persons, urging Governments worldwide to take coordinated and consistent measures to defeat this scourge.  The theme for World Day against Trafficking in Persons is ‘Responding to the trafficking of children and young people’. 

ONGC Presented With INFRA Icon Award :

Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) was awarded the INFRA Icon Award in the ‘Global Energy’ category at the mid-day INFRA Icons Awards 2018, in Mumbai. The award was given away by Additional Metropolitan Commissioner, Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA), Pravin Darare.  The theme of the event was: ‘Smart cities envisages to take infrastructure development to a next level’.
