AM Naik appointed as Chairman of National Skill Development Corporation :
Union Government has appointed Anil Manibhai Naik as Chairman of National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC). He is currently Group Chairman of engineering conglomerate Larsen and Toubro (L&T). He was awarded Padma Bhushan, India’s 3rd highest civilian award in 2009 for his outstanding contribution to economic growth of the country.
Casio launched world’s first GST calculator :
Japanese electronics company ‘CASIO’ has launched world’s first Goods and Services Tax (GST) calculator in India for simplify the GST calculations for tax payers The company has two variants of GST calculators MJ-120GST and MJ-12GST in the Indian market. These new GST calculators will provide solutions for GST based invoicing.
Government launched Bhasha Sangam :
The government has launched a unique initiative called Bhasha Sangam to introduce school students to 22 Indian languages. The initiative, under Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat, was active for the period between 22nd November – 21st December. Bhasha Sangam is a programme for schools and educational institutions to provide multilingual exposure to students in Indian languages. Another objective of Bhasha Sangam is to enhance linguistic tolerance and respect and promote national integration.
Varsha Varman won gold medal in women’s trap in the National Shotgun :
Varsha Varman, representing Madhya Pradesh, won the women’s trap gold at the ongoing 62nd national championship for shotgun events in New Delhi. Varsha, who narrowly missed qualifying for the Jakarta Asian Games final, shot 38 in the final to get the better of Junior World Cup finalist Soumya Gupta of Delhi, who ended with 37 hits for the silver medal.
LG appointed Brian Kwon as Mobile Business President :
LG Electronics has announced that it has appointed Brian Kwon as the new president. He is replacing Hwang Jeong-hwan after one year. Brian Kwon is head of LG’s home entertainment business, from December 1. It comes after LG’s mobile business posted a loss of USD 410 million this year, including a USD 130.5 million net loss in the last quarter.
CSIR to establish a High-End Skill Development Centre in Chandigarh :
India’s Premier National Research Laboratory, the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research – Institute of Microbial Technology (CSIR – IMTECH) announced a new partnership with a leading German Science and technology company, Merck to establish a “High End Skill Development Centre” at CSIR- IMTECH in Chandigarh. The first of its kind, this High End Skill Development Centre in Chandigarh will augment India’s Initiative for Skilling India in the area of Life Sciences. The Centre will train Indian students and researchers in Life Science Technologies.
