Sunil Arora Appointed New Chief Election Commissioner of India :

Sunil Arora has been appointed as the new Chief Election Commissioner of India. He succeeds Om Prakash Rawat. He will take over the top job on December 2. A former bureaucrat, Arora was appointed as Election Commissioner in August 2017. A 1980-batch IAS officer of the Rajasthan cadre, Arora has worked in ministries such as finance, textiles and the Planning Commission. Ashok Lavasa is the second election commissioner.

Netherlands win FIH Women’s Hockey Champions Trophy :

The Netherlands outclassed Australia 5-1 to win its seventh Women’s Hockey Champions Trophy at the Wujin Hockey Stadium in Changzhou China. The tournament featured only six teams, including world’s top four of the Netherlands, Britain, Australia, Argentina as well as Asian Games champion Japan and host China.

Health Ministry Launched Integrated Disease Surveillance Programme (IDSP) :

Ms. Preeti Sudan, Union Health Secretary did soft-launch of the Integrated Disease Surveillance Programme (IDSP) segment of the Integrated Health Information Platform (IHIP) in seven states. The path-breaking initiative will provide near-real-time data to policymakers for detecting outbreaks, reducing the morbidity and mortality and lessening disease burden in the populations and better health systems. 

69th Constitution Day observed across India :

Constitution day which is also known as the Samvidhan Divas was celebrated across the country to mark the day on which the Constitution of India was adopted. While the adoption of the Constitution took place on November 26, 1949, it came into effect on January 26, 1950. On November 19, 2015 during the year-long celebration of the 125th birth anniversary of Dr BR Ambedkar, the Union Government declared November 26 as the Constitution Day in a gazette notification.

A.N. Patil to be conferred with Kuncha Kala Tapasvi award for his life time achievement :

Senior artist Mr. A. N. Patil was announced to be the recipient of the Kuncha Kala Tapasvi Award, in the category of Lifetime Achievement, instituted by the Chitrakala Shilpi D.V. Halbhavi National Memorial Trust in Dharwad, Karnataka.
