India Notified Higher Tariffs on U.S. Imports :

Trade War kicked off initially between just the U.S and China and later even the European Union joined the momentum. But now India has made a move too in retaliation to the U.S. action of imposing tariffs on steel and aluminium products 25% and 10% respectively. India has notified higher tariffs on multiple items imported from the United States (U.S).

3rd Annual Meeting of AIIB began in Mumbai :

The 3rd Annual Meeting of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) has begun in Mumbai. In the past, AIIB annual meetings have been held in Beijing, China, in 2016 and in Jeju, South Korea, in 2017. The theme for this year’s meeting is “Mobilising Finance for Infrastructure: Innovation and Collaboration” that will see leaders from varied organizations and levels of government to share ideas and experiences for creating a sustainable future through sound infrastructure investment.

E Sreedharan committee to lay down standards for metro rail systems : 

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has approved setting up of committee to lay down standards for metro rail systems in the country. The committee will be headed by E Sreedharan (famously known as metro man of India) who is credited for changing face of public transport in India with his leadership in building Konkan Railway and Delhi Metro.

Day of the Seafarer 2018 observed by IMO :

Day of the Seafarer 2016 was observed across the world on 25 June, 2018 by the International Maritime Organisation (IMO) to thank the seafarers for their contribution to the economy and civil society of the world.  The theme of the 2018 Day of the Seafarer theme was ‘Seafarers’ wellbeing’. The years 2017 and 2018 have seen strong momentum in the industry to address seafarer’s wellbeing, particularly their mental health.

FICCI Awarded At X International IT Forum In Russia :

The Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FICCI) along with several industry members and senior government officials and academia, recently participated in X International IT Forum at Khanty-Mansiysk, Russia.  Organised by the Government of the Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug-Ugra region, the forum brought together industry leaders from BRICS and SCO nations as well as other countries to a single platform to interact and discuss collaboration in the fields of information technology and digital transformation.

Archery World Cup: Deepika Kumari clinched gold medal :

In Archery, Deepika Kumari clinched a gold medal in the women’s recurve event at stage three of World Cup in Salt Lake City of the US. Deepika defeated Michelle Kroppen of Germany by 7-3.   With this win, the four-time World Cup final silver medalist has automatically qualified for the Archery World Cup Final to be held in Samsun, Turkey in 2018.
