India to host 50th Union World Conference On Lung Health In 2019 :

The 50th Union World Conference on Lung Health will be held in Hyderabad, a global organisation working in this field announced.  The conference ‘Ending the Emergency: Science, Leadership, Action’ which will start in October 2019, the International Union Against Tuberculosis and Lung Disease stated.

Filmmaker Nandita Das to receive FIAPF Award :

Filmmaker Nandita Das will be honored with the International Federation of Film Producers Associations (FIAPF) Award at the 12th Asia Pacific Screen Awards (APSA) in Brisbane on the 29th of this month. She will be presented the award in recognition of her achievement in film in the Asia Pacific region.

MC Mary Kom became the first woman to win six boxing world titles :

MC Mary Kom has created history by becoming the first woman to win six boxing world titles by clinching the 48 kg gold at the 2018 AIBA Women’s World Boxing Championships in New Delhi. The 35-year-old Indian legend got the better of Ukrainian Hanna Okhota in the summit clash. 16 years after winning her maiden World Championship – and eight years since her last – Mary overtakes Ireland’s Katie Taylor as the first female boxer to win six gold medals, and becomes only the second pugilist ever (male or female) to achieve the feat after Felix Savon.

UNICEF appointed Nahid Afrin as ‘Youth Advocate’ for north eastern region :

Popular singer Nahid Afrin of Assam has been appointed as the first ‘Youth Advocate’ of the north eastern region by the UNICEF to fight for child rights. The UNICEF engages ‘Youth Advocates’ to harness their voice as agents of change in society. Nahid made her playback debut in the 2016 Bollywood film ‘Akira’ starring Sonakshi Sinha in the lead.

Andhra Pradesh topped in employability rate, talent quality :

As per the 6th edition & 2019 version of India Skills Report, Andhra Pradesh topped the list of states with the highest employability followed by Rajasthan and Haryana. The report was launched in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh. Andhra Pradesh is one of the preferred hiring destinations in India, with the highest employability in India. Employability has risen to 47%, with female employability at 46% and male participation a 48%.
