Ang Lee to be honoured by directors guild of America :

Oscar-winning director Ang Lee will be one of the recipients of the annual Directors Guild of America (DGA) honours at its ceremony. The event will be held at the DGA Theatre in New York City.

Eleventh World Hindi Conference inaugurated in Mauritius :

The 11th World Hindi Conference has started in Port Louis the capital of Mauritius. At the beginning of the conference, a two-minute silence was observed to pay tribute to former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee. In the afternoon sessions, delegates from 20 countries including India will deliberate on eight sub-topics related to “Hindi World and Indian Culture”. 

September to be observed as ‘month of nutrition’ in Rajasthan :

On the eve of 72nd Independence Day, Rajasthan government announced that it would observe September as ‘month of nutrition’. The Rajasthan CM launched ‘Annapurna Milk Scheme’. Students of Class 1 to 8 of government schools will be given milk daily instead of thrice a week. This would cost the government an additional Rs.203 crore.

Ibrahim Boubacar Keita reelected as Mali president :

Malian President Ibrahim Boubacar Keita has been re-elected for a five-year term after winning a landslide in a runoff ballot.

Asian Games 2018 began in Indonesia :

This year’s Asian Games, also known as Jakarta Palembang 2018, has started from 18th August to 02nd September in the Indonesian cities of Jakarta and Palembang. It is the second time when Jakarta is hosting the sports games after 1962. A total of 572 Indian athletes will be participating in the event in 36 different sports categories. The contingent will be led by Chef de Mission Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh.
