World’s first mission to touch the Sun :

NASA’s Parker Solar Probe, the world’s first mission to touch the Sun, was launched from Space Launch Complex 37 at Cape Canaveral Air Force Station, in United States.

PM Modi’s book ‘Exam Warriors’ released in Odia :

Union Minister for Oil and Natural Gas Dharmendra Pradhan launched the Odia edition of the book ‘Exam Warriors’ written by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Bhubaneswar, Odisha. The Odia edition of the book was released by Odisha Book Emporium. It is a motivational book for children.

NGT formed committee on natural conservation zones :

The National Green Tribunal has formed a committee with Ministry of Environment and Forests acting as the nodal agency of the committee. It will monitor consistency of the sub-regional plans for protection of Natural Conservation Zones (NCZs) as per regional plan prepared by the National Capital Region Planning Board.

India’s 1st Tribal language :

Santhali (Santali), a tribal language primarily spoken in India, Bangladesh and Nepal, received global recognition when it got a Wikipedia edition in its own script.

SBI ranked as India’s most patriotic brand :

The survey conducted by UK-based online market research and data analytics firm YouGov announced SBI to be the most patriotic brand.  The survey covered 152 brands across 11 categories, is based on data collected online between August 2 and August 8 from 1,193 respondents in the country.

Hindu Playwright Award 2018 :

Annie Zaidi was awarded the Hindu Playwright Award 2018 for her play Untitled-1, at the launch of the 14th edition of The Hindu Theatre Fest at the Taj Coromandel, in Chennai.

Ramesh Powar has been appointed as Head Coach of Indian women’s cricket team :

40-year-old former India spinner Ramesh Powar has been appointed as head coach of the women’s national cricket team till the ICC World T20, scheduled to be held in November, by BCCI. He was appointed interim coach of the team in July after the resignation of Tushar Arothe.
