Solar Charkha Mission :

President Ram Nath Kovind will launch Solar Charkha Mission which will entail a subsidy of 550 crore rupees in the initial two years for 50 clusters. According to the Minister for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Giriraj Singh, the scheme is aimed at linking five crore women and self-help groups to the initiative. 15 new technology centres will be set up and out of these, ten will be made operational this year. These centres will provide technological support to small industries.

KVIC created a world record :

The Khadi and Village Industries Commission has created a world record of distributing maximum number of bee-boxes in one day. Two thousand three hundred thirty (2330) bee-boxes were distributed among 233 beneficiaries in the Zangalee Army area. The ‘Honey Mission’ is aimed to fulfil the call of Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, for a ‘Sweet Kranti’.

Murali became 2nd fastest Indian in 10,000 m :

Young long-distance runner Gavit Murali Kumar bagged a gold in men’s 10,000 m race at the Gouden Spike meeting in Leiden, Netherlands. He became the second fastest Indian in this event.

Bindeshwar Pathak Honoured With Japan’s Nikkei Asia Prize :

Noted social reformer and founder of Sulabh International, Bindeshwar Pathak was honoured with Japan’s prestigious Nikkei Asia Prize. The award was given under Culture and Community category for his significant work in tackling poor hygiene and discrimination.

Inder Jit Singh appointed as coal secretary :

The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has cleared the appointment of Inder Jit Singh as the coal secretary. Inder Jit Singh is an Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer of the 1985 batch of Kerala cadre. He was the additional secretary, coordination in the cabinet secretariat.

International Albinism Awareness Day :

On 13th June 2018, International Albinism Awareness Day was observed all over the world. In 2014, the UN General Assembly declared 13 June as International Albinism Awareness Day with effect from 2015. Albinism is a genetic condition that causes very little or no pigmentation in the skin, hair, and eyes.
