2nd ASEAN – India Youth Summit concluded in Guwahati which was conducted to strengthen the mutual cooperation among ASEAN countries. It was inaugurated by Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal and Union Minister of State for Tourism K J Alphons.
The theme of the summit was ‘Connectivity : Pathway to Shared Prosperity’. Participants were from largest institutions from different countries including political parties, think-tanks, media and cultural organizations.
The summit is a step to facilitate Socio-cultural exchanges between the countries to further strengthen the values of tolerance, pluralism and diversity. The summit will help to lead the development of Guwahati through youth forces. Guwahati has been becoming to be the gateway to South-East Asian countries.
During the summit, Sonowal said the construction of Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport (LGBI) in Guwahati is the fastest way. It was a financial outlay of Rs.1300 Cr.
